It models three potential carbon emissions scenarios \u2013 worst in class, business as usual, and best in class \u2013 for 17 key BRI countries and provides the following five-point green finance roadmap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Report Recommendations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Belt and Road Country Capabilities:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Establish an international platform, possibly hosted by the UN, to support the intensive development of green finance across B&amp;R countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>China Action on Outward Investments:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Extend China\u2019s green requirements to its investment in the Belt and Road Initiative.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>International Green Investment:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Promote the adoption of green investment principles by global investors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Carbon Transparency:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Improve disclosure of the climate impact of these projects.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>International Climate Coalition: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Build a coalition of international, regional and bilateral agencies to more effectively advance low carbon and climate-resilient investments in B&amp;R countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This report is a collaboration between the <a href=\"http:\/\/eng.pbcsf.tsinghua.edu.cn\/portal\/list\/index\/id\/126.html\">Tsinghua University Center for Finance and Development<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vivideconomics.com\/\">Vivid Economics<\/a>, and the Climateworks Foundation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Decarbonizing the Belt and Road: A Green Finance Roadmap is the first quantitative study of potential carbon scenarios across the 126 countries involved in China\u2019s Belt and Road Initiative, currently accounting for almost a quarter of the global GDP.
